Food Saved Me: My Journey of Finding Health and Hope Through the Power of Food

I have been sitting here debating what to say about this book. First off, you should consider getting the audiobook along with the hard copy to follow along. There is just something special about Danielle telling her story and you know that she is putting it all out there for us to experience.

I spent most if not all of the book realizing that there is hope that suffering from IBS isn’t going to tear me down. I am going to be able to eat and enjoy eating food that I like because Danielle was able to modify it. I connect with her story 100% and everyone deserves to live a life where they can eat well and feel good. Not going to lie…I teared up several times because it just really got me in the heart. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book and you won’t regret it!

This book really spoke to me. It’s a must-read if you struggle with autoimmune symptoms or any health issues. The writing is top-notch and engaging from the start. This is the author’s personal story of her diagnosis of ulcerative colitis and she came to understand that changing how you eat can heal challenging symptoms or at least put them in remission.

In her book, we also learn about her family life and how food plays a role in it all. One thing that has stayed with me was how far removed the healthcare system in the United States is from how food is connected to autoimmune diseases, that she had to travel all the way to Africa to get answers.
